I thank Customer Service for their kind invitation to post on this new board! I have two sons, ages 11 and 8. The older one is a picky eater, although as he approaches puberty (aaagh!) he's trying and liking more new foods. My struggle is with school lunches. Peanuts and fish products are no longer allowed in the school due to allergies. I have started using cashew butter, which the kids love, but is also expensive. I am frustrated that there are many things they will eat at home, like apples and bananas, but will not eat if it is put into their lunches (I have yet to hear a logical explanation for this). Generally I pack varying combinations of string cheese, yogurt tubes, multigrain pretzels, fish crackers, granola bars, cereal bars, soup, and Kraft Dinner. Apparently not all of the classrooms have microwaves in them, and those that do not cannot use the microwave ovens in other rooms (go figure). Again, this is somewhat limiting, particularly since both boys had access to microwaves last year. If I ask the boys what kinds of things they would like in their lunches, they usually request items that are less than stellar in the nutrition area. I am at a loss as to what other foods I can send that will in fact get eaten. If anyone has suggestions, I'd love to hear them. Thanks! Belum.
